Scheduling Reports (Sent By Email)

In CAMS2000 reports can be emailed automatically as per a schedule. The system will apply the desired filter, create the report and email it to the recipient automatically periodically.

Scheduling Reports:
1)      Ensure the printer PDFCreator is installed on your computer. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator. Install version 1.7.* or older (not 2.0 or later).
2)      Ensure SMTP and "from" are properly filled up in Configuration
3)      Select Schedule Report Emails to bring up this screen.
4)      Any number of reports can be scheduled. Schedule description appears as subject in email. The report will be emailed only if log-in id of current user (default is "reporter") and login id in the schedule is same.
5)      If fields are left blank under Report Criteria Selection, default values from report filter are taken.
6)      A scheduled report, which is not "Enabled", will not be processed. Demo Report may not be enabled to start with, to give you time for installing PDFCreator printer.
7)      The "From Date" and "To Date" are incremented by number of days or month depending on "Repeat After" values.
8)      If "Repeat After" unit is month, then "To Date Is Last Day of Month" is also enabled.

CAMS2000 - Does it give what you want?

Before purchasing, I am sure you would like to convince yourself and others in your company about the usefulness of the system.
"Does it give what we need?"
"Does the price make business sense?"
These are the questions that must be answered. In other words, a proper "EVALUATION" before purchase. So what do we do next? Here is my suggestion:
  1. You must check for yourself the information our CAMS2000 system gives. We can help (you can send us email/call on phone), but it is you who must spend time in reviewing these reports. It takes just few minutes to do so. The reports are available to you and all you have to do is click on the link that was given earlier http://www.softoolsme.com/gulf/uae/cams2000.htm. In addition you can also download evaluation version of CAMS2000 software. It already contains some data so that all you need to do is to go to reports and pull out some reports, apply some filters and basically play around to your heart's content.
  2. After you are happy with the reports, decide whether you would like to go ahead with purchase or not. Check the prices with us

But the first step is to review the reports and download evaluation version http://www.softoolsme.com/gulf/uae/cams2000.htm. Do it now.

Call Accounting - How Does It Work?

Here's the answer to above question:

1. A PC is connected to the PABX.
2. After every call is completed, the PABX sends details of the call to the PC.
3. CAMS2000, which is running on the PC, receives the data.
4. CAMS2000 processes the data, stores the information in database and makes available the powerful reports you saw.

This, in a nutshell, is how it works.

But how is PC connected to the PABX? The short answer is: "Using SMDR Interface". Is this technical jargon scaring you? No need to, because from a user's point of view it is just a socket to which one end of the cable is connected; the other end is connected to COM1 or COM2 serial port of the PC. Alternatively some PBX provide SMDR data on Ethernet TCP/IP port.
OK, I know COM1 port is that 9-pin socket in the back of my PC, but where do I get SMDR interface for my PABX? Depending upon the manufacturer and model, the SMDR interface may already be in your PABX. It could be 25 pins or 9 pins serial connector somewhere on the PABX frame (e.g. Panasonic PABX's have built-in SMDR interfaces, fixed on right side wall).
If your PBX does not have a built-in SMDR, then you will have to purchase and have it fixed. As an example, NEC's Nice32i does not come with SMDR interface. You need to purchase it separately. It looks like any electronic circuit board and has a 25 pins socket. Surprisingly it is not fixed inside the PABX box! It is fixed inside a telephone (16 or 24 buttons phone is needed – won't fit into a 12 button phone).
Nortel's Meridian also does not come with SMDR – you need to purchase it. It looks like a small external modem. It fits between the PABX and one of the phones.
Samsung PABX (one model at least) comes with built-in SMDR interface.
Avaya gives information on TCP/IP port.
Does SMDR stand for something? Yes, it stands for Station Message Detail Recording, but I would advise against using the full name while purchasing. The salesman may tell you that they don't have it! Just ask for SMDR interface.
So what all do I need? You need SMDR interface, a serial cable with correct Pin configurations, correct data speed, parity etc to be setup (or Ethernet TCP/IP connectivity between PBX and PC if that is what the PBX supports), a PC, a PABX and CAMS2000 software.
Would I need anything else? You may need the services of PABX supplier's technician to program the SMDR so that data transfer starts. In Panasonic or Samsung, the moment you connect the right cable, setup correct port settings, data starts flowing. Not so in Nice32i. You need services of a technician from PABX supplier to program the SMDR so that data starts flowing.

Customer feedback

It is reassuring when an existing client of a product shows confidence in it.

Just check out what one such customer (details of customer available on request) has to say about CAMS2000:
…The software CAMS2000 helps us a lot. We are keeping track of all the telephone calls individually for the office as well as for the Call Centre using this software. At the end of every month we take the statistics to see individual usage. Based on that we take printout of all international calls in order to account it to the persons. This way we have a tight control on all the outgoing calls from this office. Also we are able to analyse the performance of our call centre based on the call log. We do not require any external help for maintaining the system as the …

PABX To Computer Connection in Call Monitoring System

How is PC connected to the PABX? The short answer is: "Using SMDR Interface".
What does SMDR stand for? It stands for Station Message Detail Recording, but I would advise against using the full name while discussing with your PBX supplier. The salesman may only be familiar with the term SMDR.
The thing to know about SMDR interface is that these days it comes in PBXs as a SERIAL port or an ETHERNET TCP/IP port. Traditionally SMDR interface came only as serial port. Panasonic, NEC, Samsung, Nortel all provide serial SMDR port. In some models they may also have TCPIP port. But in a pure IP based PBX like Avaya the SMDR interface is TCP/IP based only.
Is this technical jargon scaring you? No need to, because from a user's point of view it is just a socket to which one end of the cable is connected. The other end is connected to COM1/COM2 serial port of the PC (for Serial interface) or LAN Switch (for TCP/IP based interface).
You might say, "OK, I know COM1 port is that 9-pin socket in the back of my PC, but where do I find SMDR interface for my PABX?"
Depending upon the manufacturer and model, the SMDR interface may already be in your PABX. It could be 25 pins or 9 pins serial connector somewhere on the PABX frame (e.g. Panasonic PABX's have built-in SMDR interfaces, fixed on right side wall).

Call Accounting Solutions

CAMS2000 is a call accounting solution. It means it can work with any PABX that sends data on SMDR port. Normally a PBX sends data on it's SMDR interface which is either Serial or TCP/IP based port. This data is taken by CAMS2000, processed and turns into many useful reports.

In UAE, i.e. Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Qwain we can ourselves provide installation services. In fact in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman these services are free. For those not in UAE or believe in DIY (Do It Yourself), CAMS2000 can be downloaded from website and installed, configured with help of the manual that comes with it. Email and Remote support is provided for installation.
